By My Spirit

Pink blossoms hang low over a fawn-colored rabbit sitting in the soft grass of an orchard while the early sun glows through the branches. It is a gentle setting for a short morning reading. The words are simple and strong: a reminder, before the day begins, that God’s work is not carried by our muscle or influence but by His Spirit.

A peaceful reminder that God’s power is bigger than our own.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Zechariah 4:6 (KJV)

Zechariah delivered this message to Zerubbabel, the governor leading the rebuilding of the temple. The task was huge, resources were thin, and opposition was real. God’s answer was not more soldiers or money but a promise that His Spirit would see the work through. The mountain in front of Zerubbabel, the prophet says, would become level ground.

We tend to measure our days by how much power we have: time, energy, money, support. When those run short, the work can feel impossible. This verse shifts the weight. Faithfulness still matters, but the outcome rests with God. Like blossoms opening without strain, some of the best things come about through quiet dependence rather than force.
