Five little rabbits sit side by side on a grassy hilltop, looking out over a green valley under a bright blue sky. Then a small red-and-white plane flies past, towing a banner that reads Church Bunnies. There is no narration, just the fun of the moment and five small onlookers watching it go by.
Five little bunnies. One big flyby.
“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.”
Psalm 113:3 (KJV)
Psalm 113 is a call to praise God from every direction and at every time. From sunrise to sunset, His name is to be praised. The psalm goes on to describe a God who is high above the nations yet stoops down to lift up the poor and give the lonely a family. Greatness and tenderness belong together in Him.
Praise does not need to be serious all the time. It can be joyful, playful, and full of wonder, like watching a plane fly overhead with friends. The banner in the sky is a lighthearted reminder that there is always something to celebrate. From the first light of morning to the last glow of evening, there are reasons to give thanks.
