Tan
A sleek, athletic English breed with rich tan markings against a dark coat.

Origin
The Tan was discovered in the late 1800s in a wild rabbit colony in England. The first Tans were cobby, like Dutch rabbits; breeders later developed the sleek, racy type seen today.
Typical Adult Size
A small to medium rabbit with an ARBA maximum of 5½ pounds (about 2.5 kg).
Coat Type
Short, dense, glossy flyback fur.
Colors
ARBA recognizes Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac, each with rich tan markings.
Temperament
Energetic, alert and curious.
Grooming and Care
A weekly brush, more during molts. It needs daily exercise and room to run.
Distinctive Features
A sleek, arched body and the tan markings: rings around the eyes, the nostrils and jaw, the inside of the ears, the chest, the belly, a triangle behind the ears, and the toes.
What Makes It Notable
ARBA calls today’s Tans a highly competitive breed with many enthusiastic exhibitors, and their athletic show pose is a big part of the appeal.
