A pause can carry its own sense of arrival. Before the wooden cross, the little white rabbit remains in the grass while birds pass overhead, giving the hilltop a stillness that feels complete. Nothing dramatic needs to happen for the moment to hold our attention.
“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
Exodus 33:14 (KJV)
In Exodus, Moses asks for assurance as he faces the task of leading the people onward. God’s promise of presence and rest answers that need within a difficult journey. The conversation concerns guidance and companionship for what lies ahead.
The rabbit’s quiet beside the cross offers a place to reflect on that promise, bringing a Christian image of faith alongside the words spoken to Moses. We may recognize the desire to pause before continuing with responsibilities that feel larger than our strength.
Prayer can give us room to name that uncertainty and seek direction. A period of rest can also help us return with greater patience and clearer attention to the next task. We do not have to turn every pause into another demand to accomplish something. Lord, steady us in your presence and help us carry renewed trust into what comes next.
