A Sound Mind

On a sunlit stone terrace, a black rabbit sits beneath an archway draped in pink bougainvillea, with soft hills stretching out in the distance. The bunny looks calm and settled, unbothered by the open space around it. This morning reading speaks to the fears we often carry into the day, and to the strength, love, and steady thinking God provides instead.

Walk into today with courage, love, and a steady mind. 🐰☀️🙏

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7

Paul wrote Second Timothy from prison near the end of his life, to a young leader who seems to have struggled with timidity. Rather than shaming him, Paul reminds Timothy of the gift he received and tells him that fear does not come from God. What God gives is power to stand firm, love to guide that power, and a sound, disciplined mind.

Fear can scatter our thoughts and make every decision feel bigger than it is. A sound mind is not the absence of feeling but the ability to think clearly with God’s help. Starting the day with this verse is like taking a deep breath before the noise starts. Courage, kindness, and calm judgment are not things we must manufacture alone.
