A beautiful evening becomes more intimate when there is someone beside us to enjoy it. Among the roses, the two rabbits rise beneath the golden light and then meet nose to nose. Their small greeting gives the expansive mountain scene a point of tenderness.
“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
Psalm 126:3 (KJV)
Psalm 126 remembers a restoration that brought laughter and gladness to God’s people. The psalm then turns toward needs still awaiting renewal, using the images of sowing in tears and returning with a harvest. Gratitude and hope are held together within the same prayer.
The rabbits’ shared delight offers a quiet reminder that gladness often deepens in company. We may find it easier to recognize what is good when someone else pauses with us, listens to our news, or notices a beauty we nearly passed by.
Such moments can be fully enjoyed even when other parts of life remain unsettled. Giving thanks for what has been received leaves room to pray about what is still difficult. May we remember the good that has reached us, share our gladness generously, and keep hope for the places where renewal is still needed.
