The Woven Shelter

A snug doorway can make even a wide woodland feel more approachable. Just inside the woven tunnel, the black-and-tan rabbit looks out from a place that fits him, with moss and clover gathered around the entrance. The comfort of the moment comes from being able to remain sheltered while still watching the world.

“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.”
Psalm 119:114 (KJV)

In this verse, the psalmist turns to God as a source of refuge and protection, placing hope in what God has spoken. The surrounding passage concerns faithfulness under pressure. This shelter is connected to the strength to remain true amid difficulty.

The woven tunnel offers a small, tangible picture of refuge. We need places and relationships where we can recover our composure, especially when demands have left us feeling exposed. Prayer and time with Scripture can help us bring those feelings into God’s presence and remember what we want to live by.

A period of retreat can prepare us to return with greater steadiness. We do not have to solve everything during the pause. May we find room to rest, recover our perspective, and meet the world again with renewed patience.
