“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.”
Psalm 119:114 (KJV)
Thou art my hiding place and my shield. The psalmist uses two images: one for retreat, one for protection. Sometimes we need a place to hide, away from the noise and pressure. Other times we need a shield to stand behind as we face what is coming. God is both. And the psalmist’s response is hope in God’s word. A woven straw shelter in the garden is humble, yet it offers rest and safety to whoever crawls inside. God’s shelter is far greater. Hope in His word today, and find refuge there.
