A Feast Meant for Giants

Some gifts are so generous that the only sensible response is to enjoy them. Beside a strawberry that seems far beyond his proportions, the little white rabbit settles in for one patient bite after another. The size of the feast makes us smile; his uncomplicated delight makes the moment worth lingering over.

“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
Psalm 126:3 (KJV)

Psalm 126 remembers a restoration so wonderful that it seemed like a dream. God’s people look back on what he has done with laughter and gratitude, even as the psalm goes on to ask for renewed help. Their gladness has room for both blessings already received and needs that remain.

That is a useful way to understand gratitude in our own lives. We do not need everything to be settled before we can appreciate what is good. A meal, a welcome, or an unexpected kindness can give us a real reason for gladness in an otherwise difficult season.

The rabbit’s feast offers a playful reminder to receive such moments with attention. We can acknowledge the size of our troubles while still enjoying the gifts before us. May we recognize what has nourished us today and take a moment to thank God for it.
