The Saturday Morning Congregation

Six rabbits giving a cartoon their undivided attention make a wonderfully earnest little audience. Settled together on the blankets, they turn an ordinary morning into a shared occasion. The pleasure is as much in their comfortable company as in whatever is happening on the screen.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1 (KJV)

Psalm 133 celebrates the goodness of people dwelling together in unity. It develops that thought through images of precious oil and refreshing dew, portraying harmony as something generous and life-giving. The gathering is blessed by the quality of life shared within it.

The rabbits’ cozy arrangement gives the verse a lighthearted domestic setting. We often build belonging through just this kind of ordinary time: a shared breakfast, a familiar program, or a quiet activity enjoyed alongside someone else. These moments allow companionship to become part of daily life.

Human unity also takes patience when preferences and personalities differ. Making room for another person’s enjoyment can be one small way of practicing it. May we value the uncomplicated time we have together and bring enough kindness to our differences that everyone can feel welcome to stay.
