A tiny orange-and-black rabbit turns quietly atop an old phonograph record while one of the simplest and most enduring Christian hymns fills the room. The image is gentle, almost childlike, and it suits a song built on a truth that remains just as meaningful with age: Christ’s love does not diminish.
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”
John 15:9 (KJV)
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples as He prepared them for what was ahead. His love was not a passing feeling or a comforting idea. He pointed to the love between Himself and the Father and told His followers to remain in that love—to live from it, trust it, and let it shape the way they followed Him.
That gives the familiar message of “Jesus loves me” even greater weight. We may hear those words when we are young, but we never outgrow our need for them. Life changes, confidence comes and goes, and there are days when we feel strong and days when we do not. Christ’s love is not measured by any of those things.
The little rabbit keeps circling while the song continues around him, peaceful at the center of it all. May we learn to rest just as securely in the love Christ has already given us.
Lord, help us remain in Your love and remember that it is steady even when we are not.
