The Colors He Carried

This short story follows a young rabbit with an unusual coat of black and warm orange patches as he wanders the autumn grounds of an old stone church. Without a spoken word, set only to music and a few lines of text, the film shows how he spent his days among fallen leaves and ivy-covered walls, feeling like he never quite matched the others around him.

So he learned to keep to the quiet places, letting the shadows hide what made him different. Then, one evening, he follows a soft light along the wet stone path and past the old walls toward the chapel. Light pours through the stained glass windows and spills across the ground in reds and golds, and for the first time his patchwork coat seems to belong exactly where it is.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:14 (KJV)

David wrote Psalm 139 in wonder at a God who knows him completely, from his thoughts to the shaping of his body before birth. Being fearfully and wonderfully made is not a compliment about appearance. It is a confession that every person is crafted on purpose by a Creator who does not make mistakes.

Many of us know what it is to try to blend in, hiding the parts of ourselves that feel too different. The story gently suggests that what once felt out of place can become beautiful in the right light. God’s light does not erase who we are. It reveals the colors He gave us to carry all along.
