Goodnight to the Wildflowers

A full moon glowing over a meadow of wildflowers with a lantern in the foreground.

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”

Psalm 4:8 (KJV)

David wrote this psalm in a season of pressure, surrounded by people who doubted him. Yet he could still say: I will lie down in peace and sleep. That is not naivety. It is trust placed in the right hands. Safety, he says, comes from the LORD alone. Not from having everything resolved, not from controlling every outcome, but from God. As the moon rises over the wildflowers and the world goes quiet, this verse is an invitation to stop holding the day so tightly. Say goodnight to the worries, too. Someone faithful is keeping watch while you rest.
