A Peek Behind the Curtain

“My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.”
Song of Solomon 2:9 (KJV)
The Song of Solomon has a way of slowing us down. Here the beloved is pictured just outside, glancing through the window and the lattice, close enough to be seen in glimpses. Many readers have heard in these lines an echo of how God draws near: not always bursting through the door, but standing nearby, patient, looking in with affection. There are seasons when faith feels like catching light through a curtain rather than standing in full sun. Those glimpses still count. Someone who loves you is closer than the wall suggests, and the morning is already finding its way inside.
