“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

He makes me lie down in green pastures. Sheep do not lie down easily. They need to feel safe, fed, and free from fear. The Shepherd provides all of that before rest is possible. Some of us need to be made to lie down, because we would keep pushing otherwise. This verse is a reminder that rest is part of God’s care, not a reward for finishing everything. Still waters, soft grass, a blanket spread out in the evening light: these are gifts from a Shepherd who knows exactly what His flock needs. Let yourself be led there.
