What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. David does not pretend he is never afraid. He says when, not if. Fear is part of being human. The question is what we do with it. David’s answer is trust. A rabbit peeking out of its burrow, alert and cautious, knows something about fear. But even a timid creature ventures out eventually. Trust is not the absence of fear; it is choosing to lean on God in the middle of it. Where fear goes, trust can follow.
