When the Aisles Came Alive

The pews seem to have underestimated how much energy their congregation could contain. As rabbits spill into the aisle and bound toward the waiting choir, the colored sunlight becomes part of a wonderfully exuberant arrival. The movement gives the scene its humor and its gladness: this is a gathering eager to draw near.

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
Psalm 100:4 (KJV)

Psalm 100 calls people to worship with joy and thanksgiving. Its closing verse grounds that invitation in God’s goodness, enduring mercy, and faithfulness through generations. Praise grows from remembering the character of the one being approached.

The rabbits’ lively entrance gives that gladness a playful expression. Our own gratitude may look quieter, but it can still change how we enter a place or meet another person. Remembering what we have received can make us more attentive to those who have helped, welcomed, or sustained us.

Thankfulness becomes especially meaningful when we express it. A sincere word of appreciation or a willingness to contribute can bring warmth to the gathering we join. May we carry gratitude with us as we come together, and let it become something others can hear and feel in our presence.
