From the rising of the sun to its setting, the psalm says, the LORD’s name is to be praised. That covers a lot of ground. It means praise is not reserved for Sunday morning or for moments when everything goes well. It belongs to the first cup of coffee and the drive home, the busy middle of the day and the quiet last hour. Looking out over open fields at sunrise, it is easy to feel how wide that invitation is. Wherever the light reaches, worship is fitting. Today offers a whole sky’s worth of chances to say thank you.
