“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,”
Galatians 5:22 (KJV)
The fruit of the Spirit is not a list of achievements to accomplish. It is fruit, the natural result of a life connected to God. Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and faithfulness grow slowly, as the Spirit works in us. We cannot force fruit to ripen; we can only stay close to the vine. A door opening onto the sea at sunset feels like an invitation to something larger and more beautiful than ourselves. God’s Spirit opens that kind of door in us, and what grows on the other side is good.
