Yufeng Yellow

A Chinese meat and fur breed from Henan Province with a yellow coat and a white belly.

Origin

The Yufeng Yellow was developed in Qingfeng County, Puyang, in Henan Province, China. Selection began in 1986, and the breed passed its provincial appraisal in 1994. A Henan provincial standard was published in 2015.

Typical Adult Size

A medium-sized rabbit. Studies found an average weight of about 4.5 kg at 8 months and 4.8 kg at 12 months (about 10 to 10½ pounds).

Coat Type

Short, glossy fur with a dense undercoat.

Colors

Yellow, with a white belly.

Temperament

We found no reliable description of its temperament.

Grooming and Care

Basic rabbit care: plenty of hay, fresh water, a dry enclosure and daily exercise.

Distinctive Features

A small oval head, long upright ears (about 14.5 cm), a long straight back and a noticeable dewlap in adult does.

It is one of China’s cultivated rabbit breeds.
