“Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.”
Psalm 112:4 (KJV)
After the crowds go home, a fairground at night can feel lonely, all lights and no laughter. The psalmist speaks to exactly that kind of hour: light rising in the darkness for those who walk uprightly. It does not promise there will be no darkness. It promises that darkness will not be the only thing there. Often the light that rises is not dramatic. It might be a kind word, a clear next step, or the steady sense that God is gracious and full of compassion. When the music stops and the lot empties, the lights still shine. So does He.
