“Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.”
Romans 15:7 (KJV)
Receiving one another sounds simple until we meet people who are different from us: different habits, different opinions, different ways of showing faith. Paul’s standard is high and freeing at the same time. We welcome each other the way Christ welcomed us, which is to say, fully and before we had earned it. A basket in an orchard holds all kinds of apples, some perfect and some bruised, and all of them belong. Churches and friendships work best that way too. Make room. Share the basket. The glory of God is seen in how we gather.
