“Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?”

When Manoah asked the angel of the LORD for his name, the answer came back gently: why do you ask, seeing it is secret, or as some translations put it, wonderful? Some things about God are beyond our ability to grasp. That is not a reason for frustration but for awe. We are invited to know Him truly, yet never completely. There will always be more. Curiosity is a good thing, and asking questions is part of faith. But some answers are held back, not to keep us out, but to remind us whom we are speaking to.
