  • Blue Hour Benediction

    Blue Hour Benediction

In the deep blue of night, a calico rabbit with orange and black patches sits on an old stone wall surrounded by blue hydrangeas. A lantern glows in a nearby window, and the moon hangs over the garden. The evening reading speaks of God’s goodness on hard days, then sends listeners off to sleep with a word of peace.

Even in the hard days, He is still good, still strong, and still near to those who trust Him. 🐰🌙🙏

“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
    — Nahum 1:7

Nahum’s prophecy is mostly about the fall of Nineveh, the cruel capital of Assyria that had oppressed many nations. In the middle of announcing judgment, this verse shines out. The same God who brings justice to the proud is a stronghold for those who trust Him. He knows them, which means He recognizes and cares for them personally.

A stronghold is a place you run to when trouble comes, with thick walls and a safe room. Some days feel like that kind of day. Nahum never claims trouble will stay away, but he does promise that God is good inside it and knows exactly who is trusting Him. That is a good thought to carry into a quiet night.

  • Do Ye Likewise

    Do Ye Likewise

Inside a glass conservatory full of tropical leaves, orange bird-of-paradise blooms, and purple orchids, a soft grey rabbit rests on a low stone wall while a butterfly drifts overhead. The air looks warm and lush. This afternoon reading is the familiar golden rule, offered as a midday reminder to treat others the way we hope to be treated.

A gentle reminder in the middle of the day: treat others with the same kindness, grace, and love you hope to receive. 🐰🌿☀️

“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”
    — Luke 6:31

Jesus spoke these words in Luke’s account of His teaching on the plain, in a passage about loving enemies, blessing those who curse, and giving without expecting return. The golden rule is not a deal or a trade. Jesus goes on to say that even sinners do good to those who do good to them. His followers are called to show the kind of mercy their Father shows.

It is easy to measure kindness by how others treat us. This verse flips the order. We start with how we would want to be treated and offer that first. In the middle of a busy afternoon, a patient answer or an unexpected courtesy can change someone’s day. Like the variety in this greenhouse, kindness can bloom in many different ways.

  • Seek His Face

    Seek His Face

Water spills from a tiered stone fountain in a courtyard of ivy-covered arches and climbing roses. Perched on the rim of the fountain’s bowl is a black-and-white rabbit, steady and still as the water flows around it. This morning reading is a call to begin the day by seeking God Himself, not just His help, and to keep seeking Him all day long.

A quiet morning. A steady heart. A beautiful reminder to begin the day with God. 🐰☀️🙏

“Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” — 1 Chronicles 16:11

These words come from the song of thanks David gave the Levites when the ark of the covenant was brought to Jerusalem. It was a day of celebration and music. In the middle of the praise is an instruction: seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually. Worship was not meant to be a single event but an ongoing way of life.

Seeking someone’s face is personal. It is what we do with people we love, wanting their presence and not just their help. Continually means this is not a box to check before breakfast. Like the steady flow of water in this fountain, it can run through the whole day, in short prayers, quiet thanks, and moments of turning back to Him.

  • After the Sun Says Amen

    After the Sun Says Amen

The sun has just slipped below the horizon, leaving a band of orange and violet along the hills. Above, the first stars are showing, and a soft grey rabbit sits alone in the cool grass, looking straight ahead. The evening reading speaks to the waiting times in life, when the answer has not come yet, and closes by wishing everyone a restful night.

Even when the answer hasn’t come yet, keep looking to Him. Keep trusting. He hears you. 🐰🌙🙏

“Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.”
    — Micah 7:7

Micah wrote at a time when society seemed to be falling apart. He describes leaders taking bribes, friends betraying friends, and even families turning against each other. Instead of giving up, the prophet makes a decision. He will watch for the Lord and wait for the God who saves, confident that God will hear him.

Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of faith, especially at night when questions grow louder. Micah’s words are not resigned. They are hopeful and active, like someone watching the horizon for a sunrise they know is coming. Ending the day this way does not solve every problem, but it places them in good hands while we sleep.

  • Where Summer Gathers

    Where Summer Gathers

A summer garden is in full color around a tan rabbit sitting on a dirt path. On one side, a woven basket spills over with tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers. On the other, orange and pink flowers bloom, with butterflies drifting through. There are no words in this short video, only the picture of a harvest so full it seems made for sharing.

A little goodness shared with someone else can mean more than we realize. 🐰🌿🙏

“But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
    — Hebrews 13:16

Hebrews closes with practical instructions for living out faith. After reminding readers that Jesus suffered for them, the writer says the sacrifices God now delights in are praise and doing good. Communicate here means to share, to give what we have to others. Generosity is not a side issue. It is a form of worship that pleases God.

Abundance is meant to flow outward. A garden that produces more than one household can eat is an invitation to fill someone else’s table. Sharing does not always mean giving food. It can be time, encouragement, or a listening ear. A little goodness passed along can mean far more to the person receiving it than we will ever know.

  • Softly Comes the Morning

    Softly Comes the Morning

The sun rises over rolling hills as birds cross a pale morning sky. In a meadow full of daisies and blue cornflowers, a fluffy fawn rabbit sits with its ears lifted, looking out at the light. This morning reading is about stepping out of darkness and into light, with a gentle reminder to carry that light through the day.

Walk into today carrying His light. 🐰☀️🙏

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.”
    — Ephesians 5:8

Paul wrote to the Ephesians about the change Christ makes in a life. He does not just say they used to be in darkness. He says they were darkness, and now they are light in the Lord. Because of that change, they are called to walk as children of light, and he adds that the fruit of light is goodness, righteousness, and truth.

Light does not have to strain to shine. It simply does what it is. Living as children of light means letting goodness and honesty show up in normal moments, not just special ones. Like this meadow waking up under the sunrise, the change happens gently but surely, and others may notice the warmth before they understand where it comes from.

  • The Willow Holds the Evening

    The Willow Holds the Evening

The long branches of a willow tree hang over a lake glowing with the last pink and orange of sunset. In the shadows beneath it, a dark brown rabbit rests in the grass while fireflies begin to flicker nearby. The evening reading invites us to hand over everything we carried through the day, so we do not have to bring it into the night.

Whatever you carried today, you don’t have to carry it into the night. 🐰🌙🙏

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Peter wrote to believers scattered across many regions, facing suffering and pressure for their faith. Just before this verse he tells them to humble themselves under God’s mighty hand. Humility and casting our cares go together. Admitting we cannot carry everything is the first step toward giving it to the One who can.

The reason Peter gives is simple: He cares for you. God does not take our burdens reluctantly. He wants them. The willow here seems to gather the evening under its branches, sheltering what rests beneath. We can let God do the same with our worries tonight, setting them down one by one and resting in His care.

  • Rejoice Evermore

    Rejoice Evermore

Beside a clear, shallow stream tumbling over rocks, a fluffy cream rabbit sits in bright green grass, its mouth slightly open as if it were about to speak. The scene is simple and cheerful. So is the afternoon reading: a verse of only two words, followed by a reminder to stay faithful through the rest of the day.

Two words. A powerful reminder for every day: Rejoice evermore. 🐰🙏

    “Rejoice evermore.”
    — 1 Thessalonians 5:16

Paul gives a rapid series of short commands near the end of First Thessalonians: rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in every thing give thanks. This church had faced persecution from the start, so these were not instructions for easy lives. Paul says this is God’s will for them in Christ Jesus. Joy, prayer, and thanks were meant to run through every season.

Rejoicing always does not mean pretending to be happy. It means finding a reason for joy that does not depend on circumstances. Like a stream that keeps moving whether the day is sunny or grey, joy rooted in God can keep flowing even in the slow, tired part of an afternoon. Sometimes the shortest verses are the easiest to carry all day.

  • Sunward

    Sunward

Dew still clings to broad green leaves as a russet rabbit peeks out from a sunflower patch. Behind it, golden blooms face the rising sun over distant hills, and a few birds fly across the sky. This morning reading packs three short instructions into one verse, a simple pattern for whatever today might bring.

Whatever today brings, hold onto hope, stay patient, and keep praying. 🐰☀️🙏

“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.”
    — Romans 12:12

Romans 12 marks a turning point in Paul’s letter. After explaining the gospel for eleven chapters, he describes how it shapes daily life. Here he groups three habits together: rejoicing in hope, staying patient in trouble, and continuing faithfully in prayer. Each one helps the others. Hope fuels patience, and prayer keeps hope alive.

Sunflowers are a picture of this verse. They turn toward the light, wait through long days, and grow steadily without hurry. We may not know what this day holds, but we can face it the same way: looking toward hope, enduring what is hard with patience, and staying in conversation with God from morning until evening.

  • The Moon Keeps the Promise

    The Moon Keeps the Promise

A full moon rises over a still lake, laying a silver path across the water. Cattails stand tall at the edge, and a small grey rabbit sits on the bank among glowing fireflies. The evening reading offers Jesus’ own words about peace, along with an encouragement to sleep well and greet tomorrow unafraid.

Leave today’s worries behind and carry His peace into the night. 🐰🌙🙏

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.”
    — John 14:27

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples on the night before His crucifixion. He knew they were about to face fear and confusion. Rather than hiding what was coming, He gave them a gift: His own peace, not the kind the world gives. In the same breath He told them not to let their hearts be troubled or afraid.

The peace the world offers often depends on things going well. Jesus offers a peace that holds even when they don’t. Like the moon that keeps rising night after night, His promise does not change with our circumstances. Before sleep, it is good to set down the day’s worries and take hold of the peace He freely gives.
